Introduction to E-CO2
E-CO2 stands for a range of electrical control systems from safetec for the release of CO2. In this context, ‘electrical’ means that traditional pressure pipes or pull wires are replaced by electrically monitored lines. This simplifies installation considerably and increases safety at the same time. The assignment of cylinder groups to the various protected areas is pre-programmed and does not require manual selection.
Alarm devices are activated as soon as a section valve is moved out of the “closed” position. Simple and user-friendly electrical release panels are available for operation. The system is operated strictly in accordance with the FSS Code Chapter 5 to prevent false activations due to multiple safety measures. The release delay (minimum 20 seconds) can be configured individually for each protected area.

The variant with the CP-30 6-section release panel uses electric motor drives for the section valves and electromagnetic valves for the cylinder groups, while the variant with the CP-240 1-section release panel uses electropneumatic valves for sections and cylinder groups. Both versions can protect up to 32 sections with up to 8 cylinder groups.
CO2 release systems are normally centralized systems where cylinders are divided into groups in a central cylinder room and routed to the protected areas via a manifold system and section valves. E-CO2 simplifies the control of such a system in an exceptional way, providing a state of the art solution for efficient and safe fire protection on your vessel.
