SDS-2/6 Smoke Detection System

Description

The SDS-2/6 is suitable to control simultaneously up to 36 cargo holds by permanent air sample extraction from the connected areas. In practice the steel pipe net of the CO2-Fire Extinguishing System is used to extract the air samples. By passing through the fire alarm panel the air is scanned for smoke particles before leaving the system to atmosphere via a twin fan unit. The fire alarm panel indicates smoke in the cargo hold, appearing air flow deviation and other system faults thus activating visual and acoustic alarm signals. The status of the system is announced on an illuminated clear text display. For alarm transmission to wheelhouse a remote display unit is available.

The SDS-2/6 was relieved by the SDS-48 in 2001. For the SDS-2/6 system support and spare parts are still available.
